Everybody loves a good roast dinner – but the standard of the roast potatoes can make or break the meal.
Serving up potatoes without a crunch on the outside and deliciously soft centre is enough to have you struck off the list of trustworthy cooks for life.
We all have our own methods to try and perfect the potatoes, but one mum thinks she’s discovered the ultimate cooking hack to nail them every single time – and others agree.
The woman from Australia learned the hack from her own mum and says it’s now the only way she cooks roast spuds.
All you’ll need is the potatoes, a splash of oil and the ‘secret’ ingredient of French onion dry soup mix.
Sharing her ‘best food hack’ on the Mums Who Clean Facebook group, she explained: “When doing roast spuds, peel, cut and place in baking dish.
“Get French Onion dry soup mix and sprinkle over top of spuds.
“Then sprinkle your oil over that and bake.
“It’s the only way I do roast spuds now. It’s the bomb – my mum taught me!”
Others vouched for the cooking hack, with one replying to say: “I second this, it’s AMAZING.”
A second simply added: “Delish.”
However, another amateur chef has claimed the best way to cook up a good old crispy spud is to use honey and mustard.
He recommended mixing two teaspoons of Colman’s English mustard with four teaspoons of honey before seasoning it with salt and pepper.
Baste the mixture over your potatoes and pop them in the oven, adding a second coat with 20 minutes to go.
